CONTEST RULES
REGISTRATION:
See the form below to register! Registration will be available till the day of the competition.
CONTEST RULES:
3 Divisions: Pee Wee (10 and under); Youth (11-17); Amateur Adult (18 & over): A caller may enter
only one division. Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each division. A minimum of three
contestants is required for each division. If fewer than three contestants register, that division
will be eliminated and the contestants will have the option to upgrade to a higher division.
Only vocal calling or sounds produced by hand-held or breath-operated instruments may be used. Electronic devices and the use of props such as trees, breaking branches, and other devices are prohibited. Calls, grunt tubes, or other instruments used may be a maximum of 4 inches in diameter and no more than 36 inches long.
CALLS: Contestants will base their calls on the following sequences: 45 seconds for cow/calf sounds, followed by 45 seconds for bull sounds. Calling times for the Pee Wee Division will be 30 seconds per call. When the caller makes his or her first call, the time will start. Any contestant exceeding this time will be disqualified. Callers must produce sounds specified by the announcer within 15 seconds from the time the announcer asks. When the caller makes his/her first sound, an official of the contest will start a timeclock.
CALLING SEQUENCE: Each contestant will draw a number from a hat. One more number than the actual number of the contestants will be placed in the hat. The contestant that draws #1 will draw again and call twice. Contestant #1 will be scored but the score will not count. Scoring will begin with contestant #2. This process will provide judges with a chance to tune their ears. If a contestant misses his/her calling sequence, he/she will be disqualified.
SCORING: Judges will evaluate each sequence of calls and score them from 1 to 20 (1 is the lowest, and 20 is the highest score). An odd number of judges will be used, with 3 minimum.
TIES:
All ties will be settled with a call-off. Call-Off scores are not added into the total scores.
